Not sure what this means - but as I understand things, the wind forecasts are due to be normalised within 2 days ? - are you going to support us please?

I have only the black dots and the wind arrows, with no course and no polar arcs. Is this what I should be seeing?
Post by iconPost by RodH | 2010-07-27 | 16:20:20
I do not have the proper Solitaire polars as I am showing a speed of 9 knots in a 4 knot wind at a wind angle of 45 degrees, which is ridiculous. The heading on my chart does NOT include the Solitaire du Figaro race. Is this race not going to be supported?

IS THE FIGARO GOING TO BE SUPPORTED BY ZEZO"S SS?
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2010-07-28 | 10:40:58
Probably no.

BTW I don't see any winds in the game today. Is it only me?

It has been a problem for some time this morning, but it now seems to have been resolved.
Nevertheless, Zezo, your help with right polars and race waypoints would be greatly appreciated.
Is your Big Bird or another one in the race ?
By the way, the winds on the Channel indicated by your SS and VR are not the same.
Hope to get some info ;-)

There is general recall of the race now. They are giving me time to fix it? ;-)

I am fed up. The crash of MP-VR caused me a shipwreck and 13,500 boats. They never communicate to skippers directly. I'm through! Freaking through. Switching to SailOnLine.org

That's one of the reasons I don't support (and don't participate in) the recent races. It's getting worse all the time and the serious players will get fed up sooner or later.
Post by iconPost by Belladonna | 2010-07-29 | 15:26:15
If you don't participate, who's then skipping your Big Bird ?
It's true it's getting worse but this is not a good reason to drop a lot of friends down the tube ;-(
Tell me you found a new job or you are on vacation, I'll accept that reason !!!

Someone else is obviously at the helm of Big Bird!
Post by iconPost by Open-Container-III | 2010-07-30 | 07:09:10
I rescind my last comment. The Master is definitely at the helm.
Post by iconPost by zezo | 2010-07-30 | 16:03:21
Yes, I am, doing my best without missing night sleep and social life.
Post by iconPost by Open-Container-III | 2010-07-30 | 17:40:44
And, in due course, you have passed me! Again! When I thought it was safe to go back in the water again!

Hello, I hope nevertheless that Zezo will be available for the running(race). It is the tremendous tool that I discovered on ag2r.

Mr.Zezo:- I am not a programmer, at all, (my last was a preliminary course in Fortran, and we addressed the computer with punch cards) but your program must have a command that you use to insert the polars information for any race that you do support. Would it therefore be possible for you to make this command available to your clients (such as me) so that we can add the polars for any race that we are participating in. I am not suggesting in any way that you release the basic original programming, but a small downloaded sub-program which was on the users computer, could then be the means by which YOUR program was accessed. It would relieve you of the nescessity of continuously modifying your own program for each race and each new set of polars. I am aware that you would need to charge a fee for such a sub-program.

Not a bad idea, but will need some additional work. Right now the process is not 100% automated and needs some manual tweaking of the polars.

Hey, Cvetan, it' time to wake up or I'm gonna pass you !!!

We are now on leg 2.
Open Container, I can't find you in the MP interface; how do you spell your boat name exactly ?
I'd like to get you among "my friends" !

OK, I've got you. I'm just disapointed that you are a "full options". I'll not be able to compete w/you !!!

Open Container III
Post by iconPost by RodH | 2010-08-04 | 21:06:15
How do I find Pacotool?
How do I get VRTool to start working?
As Zezo is not making SS work for the Figaro, I desperately need a substitute, even though the others are much more complicated to learn and use.
I used VRTool in the VORG but now just cannot get it to start working.
Any help welcomed.

I'm in the exact same "boat" with you, Rod. But I find that MP's tools are enough for the time being. They're much improved over VORG days.
Post by iconPost by RodH | 2010-08-04 | 21:27:28
True, Open Container, but I think we will both find that some help would be preferred when we reach the French coast and have to go upwind past the buoys and islands. That second mark at Groix will be bad, because the buoy itself covers almost all of the island except for its western tip. I assume that VRTool and/or Pacotool would show the reality of the island. It looks like we'll be making short tacks back and forth. I just hope we get there in my morning, otherwise I fear I'll be up all night.
Post by iconPost by Open-Container-III | 2010-08-05 | 09:32:36
It's going to be a hellish night for me, to be sure.
Post by iconPost by Belladonna | 2010-08-05 | 16:53:55
What the hell ! With all your options, your only risk is to finish in the top tens ! Set your turbo, one tack and you're done. Good job !!!

Belladonna, when I go a-racing on the real brine, I take every go-fast electronic's I have: digital compass, digital wind, digital COGS. I just attained a VMG reading at the helm. It's part of racing. Why arm myself with a knife when I attend a gunfight? What are you complaining for? You're not doing so bad yourself. When you just passed our host? Do you have VRTools? I don't have that, and I don't have a gang of back-up skippers to take my helm when I sleep and goto work? That's what the top 10 racers in Virtual Regatta have. But I don't complain. I just do as well as I can and try to learn from my mistakes. Many Players is not perfect, but it has set a great game on the table before us. And I am glad I have you on my radar screen now!

Open C, I just wanted to kid you about your "hellish night" and certainly not open a controversy nor at all complain.
When I go racing myself, it's usually on a monotype race. All same boats, all same sails like the real Solitaire by the way. That's the reason of my rem, and my sincere thought is that MP shoud "give" everybody pro sails.
I used to use Cvetan's SS, but nothing else and if you track my route, you'll notice that it very seldom changes between 10:00 pm and 08:00 am, if you see what I mean !!! (perhaps except this early morning, but i had no friends to kiss on land). It might be a little different during the day, as I'm retired.
I just do as well as I can and try to learn from my mistakes (copied & pasted from your post !), and try to enjoy.
Good winds for the last miles, and push hard !!!

Open C, what happened to you in the last miles ?
You almost lost 100 places since 10:00 pm.
Sorry for you ! See you in the next leg.
