Well, maybe.
What is likely to be the leading group (about 1000) began the high dive from the northern shores in the Gulf of Oman for Sri Lanka. This came about in a sudden change in routing about 3.5 hours early and not on the mid clock updates. The 6 Jan 2000 iteration soon appeared to be unstable in VR servo reporting and Zezo routing.

This was noted by latency in boat positions on the game main screen and frequent changes to sailing routes; often cycles of 20 minutes. Were these possibly linked together?

I think we all have weathered this by averaging so, there is no complaint. Just curious in the operation of the environment with VR sailing.

Just liking to understand what Zezo deals with in these situations.

The weather file that becomes the 20:00 game weather is actually available 3.5 hours earlier. Most of the time it does not make sense by itself, so I wait 30 minutes more and apply the first 3-4 days of forecast at 17:00.

But sometimes I get too curious myself and download the data at 16:30 ;-)

I belive you are talking UTC time right?
Now I understand why sometimes we got predictions 1 hour before the gfs update in the lower right corner.
But again you state is not all the time. :(
That makes it kind of random.

CET. And I just scheduled regular updates at 4/10/16/22 :30 and :45 (CET)

Most of the time the first two GRIB files are available at :30, that's what will become current data and +12h at the game wind update.

That's actually 3/9h UTC, and will shift to 5/11 CET during the daylight savings time

So if my understanding is good,

At 4/10/16/22 :30 and :45 (CET) you apply a current data and +12h update

and

At 5/11/17/23 (CET) you apply 3 to 4 day update

Is that right?

The first update usually gets 2 files - +12 and +24 hours, but that's not guaranteed. NOAA servers take slightly different time to compute the model.

Each update 15 minutes later adds another 3-4 files, that's about two days worth of data (NOAA spools new in about 4 minutes from each other)
