Bonjour
un pb concernant les way points.Ils ne marchent pas toujours.Mon bateau reste en stand -by.Il prend pourtant la bonne direction mais il n'avance plus.Peut-etre ça vient du serveur?Merci de me renseigner.

I was blacklisted once because of wrong password. The error message is not meaningful, even internally it says "LOCKED". The lock seems to expire after a while (an hour or so?)

Another random piece of info: heading programmer is canceled after running aground. I made the mistake of touching the programmer 8 minutes before the tack and the 10-minute limit kicked in (so much for the seamless updates)

The new time was :06. The projected course was a bit short of the land, so I decided to give it a try. The boat get grounded at :05 and did not tack automatically (that would have worked and cost just 1 lost minute)

Thanks!

I have now learnt the hard way if you start making changes to an existing heading program, the server throws away your old program anyway, but doesn't save the new one if you don't exit the window!
Last night I used 3 precious cards to set up a tack and then a later apparent wind angle change. Later I changed the time of the tack by a few minutes per advice from zezo (Thanks!), but didn't close the programming window (on the android app). I woke up this morning expecting to see Truffle Hunter on course for the finish with a programmed wind angle change coming up soon. But no, I'm still sailing away from the finish line...with no sign of any programmed heading change.

Needless to say, this 'feature' is not documented! I have emailed support and will share their response if I get one.

The server didn't actually throw out your schedule because of you not exiting the window. It was actually because at 1100 Paris time, they closed Leg 2 and accidentally also closed Leg 3. They eventually recognized the mistake and re-opened Leg 3. That process resulted in all users losing all scheduled maneuvers and waypoints.

I was fortunate enough to have awakened at 4:15 AM Central US time randomly, and to have checked my phone. If not for that, my boat would have gone at least two extra hours South before tacking.

Thank you for this info. Nice to know that I didn't do anything wrong when my waypoint to finish line vanished and the boat didn't tack :(

I think I lost 1.5 hours and a place in the top 200.

many thanks for sharing, YourMom, because I could not figure out what happened...when I woke up this morning at 6:30 Boston time I was straight on my way to antarctica, all 3 waypoints lost...I mean, its always possible to delete sth by accident if you play on your cell with the tiny screen and big sausage fingers, but to delete all three...but I thought it was my mistake anyway, as all the other leading boats did tack in time...

BTW, have you figured out yet the point/ranking system...is it a black box or is it somehow possible for the normal user to calculate (not possible for stupid users like me...)

They were clearly explained in the help section before. Now VR introduces "levels" so we can level up ... but that changes the logic behind the points.

Their inshore race scoring is based on ELO points AFAIR, but I've never played inshore game myself.

I don't know how the new system works. Cvetan is probably correct about it being some kind of ELO-style thing. If so, then the math may be complicated and they might not be able to explain it properly even if they want to. It's even possible that VR themselves might not understand the calculations, if it's being pushed through a third party ELO calculation service or something like that.

I don't mind that they changed it, but I have two major complaints about it... One is that the calculation isn't clear and possibly might never be. The other is that they should have pushed the last two years of history through it to arrive at the initial new rankings, instead of putting the top 100+ boats one point apart from each other. I'm proud of my 3-2-2 in Zanzib, but with a Category 6 label on that, it should have had an inconsequential impact on rankings. Instead, I jumped straight to the lead. Feels wrong.

I'm hoping Toppen and I can both stay patient with the new interface long enough to both complete the VOR (assuming it actually happens). At least that way, we can have the interpersonal satisfaction of seeing who beats who on that stage, head-to-head, regardless of where we finish against the rest of the fleet.

Unfortunately, there's a good chance I'll need to skip at least one leg of VOR. With this new format, you need to be online constantly, and I've got at least one week in November when I'll need to be offline most of the time. Also, my wife and I are both losing patience with me poking at my phone at 4 AM. I don't normally do that, but it's hard not to when you're at the front, can't trust the system to execute your "programmation", and can't schedule more than one or two maneuvers ahead without burning cards and then credits and then money fast. I'm not willing to start dropping large amounts of money to be able to schedule several maneuvers in advance. Ultimately, I think those who are more willing to do so, and those who are more willing to be up all night, will start beating me with ease. Then I'll quit without regret.

This morning the regatta was closed a time...moreless 11:00-...
I abandoned the game
At 12.00 I have looked at the game by chance and it was working.
Tack 20 late.
My secure better that 35th is now 77th. Not too bad luck!
