Just to lighten the mood as we start the run in towards Capetown, and attempt to cross this ridge.....

What do you like/dislike about real sailing.

I like..... The lightening of the sky just before dawn.
The way my hair blows when I take off my 'woolly hat'

I dislike.. The bit of battery box, that sticks in my side where I sit at the chart table.
Trying to roll over, in my sleeping bag, in the Quarter Berth.

The absolute best of sailing is the moment when you switch off the engine after leaving the port for the first time in the spring after putting the boat back to water. The silence, the sound of wind, water. Thinking of that carries me over the cold and dark winter in Finland.

The dawn yes, the sunset in summer with clear sky a yes yes.

the top: sailing in company of a big crowd of dolphins.

the top of the top: cuddleing with girlfriend at sunset with light breeze with a glass of wine.

on a different mood: the adrenaline of a prestart in a cruiser race
