Firstly, many thanks for all your hard work - couldn't sail without this website.

Secondly, can you tell me where to find info on decompressing the grib file data - it used to be JPEG2000 but that doesn't work any more.

No idea about the compression algorithms.

I use https://software.ecmwf.int/wiki/display/GRIB/Home and possiblky http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/wesley/wgrib2/ to convert the data
