I am just wondering.

How many are using the chart calculations regularly, like every day?

How many are actually by the provided polars, sailing skills and weather?

Do you mean, who is using the router daily, vs sailing by the seat of their pants? If that's the case, then pretty much by definition, if they are participating in this forum, then everyone.

That doesn't mean they follow it verbatim and blindly. I take the route as guidance. I make sure I understand why the router wants to do what it does. Then I might follow it or modify my course depending on my view of the weather and the tactical situation.

Use of a router doesn't mean you lack sailing or navigation skills, it means you are using a tool to leverage your skills.

I mean using the charting tools as a primary at a daily basis for selecting the route to sail.

I for one mainly use this site as a source of information. I check in-game where the best wind is, where the best wind will be in 6 hours, 12 hours, tomorrow. I use the polars provided ingame to see if I want to change sails now or wait until I need to tack. In case wind direction change is predicted I use it to choose when to sail over portside or starboardside.

Oh, as you mention it BTW, if you feel you need to pay to access the polars, change your mind ;)
