Hello,
With VRdashboard (in the map tab) you can see exactly where is the buoy and where you put the waypoints. You just need to calculate the good angles.
ps : Check my last video on youtube if you speak french, this is exactly the subject :)

In order to determine the correct angle to take leaving the wp;

- Route to the waypoint and note your time of arrival.
- Extrapolate a line from the following waypoint through your upcoming waypoint to find a point that when routing to the following waypoint passes through the upcoming waypoint at your expected time of arrival.

You should now see the routing you should take exiting the waypoint.

Useful Information. Thank both of you. I saw tracking lines going middle through the buoy. It count's only the center point?

yes but you should perhaps take a margin of 1 or 2 meters. Your choice :)

My advice :

1 Create a guest account on Nord Stream Race2 (if not yet struggling in
2 Create a couple of Friends ( the Leaders ( Tipapa../ Boudha / /Rafal......Mousseline ... Freiz Volante ......AND the most important BooBill!
3 Inspect their Rounding thecnique at Buoy Check point 2.4 with your Dashboard Map selection

To my opinion at that buoy Boobill is the only Player who did an academic square rounding and for that reason the most interesting for you !

Ps: You may also discover that according to these Dashboard report a couple of Top VSR / Top Guns missed the Buoy , others players even did turn it clockwise !

That turn was more than 360 degrees, so if there was a way to successfully turn it with only one point, I'd like to see your math.

This one was particularly troublesome because the wind was shifting so rapidly as we rounded the mark. Normally I will ensure that each of my legs is within max VMG angles and avoids unnecessarily sailchanges. Although, someone correct me if I'm wrong, I believe two turns inside a minute should only result in 1 sail change/gybe penalty.

In this case, I may have been almost dead downwind on my short intermediate leg, but that's okay, you still move downwind. Had it been a tack to round, you'd want to ensure that you are not dead to wind even for a second on waypoints, or you may end up in irons.

Do not misunderstand my comment which was with the wording academic the best note possible .
For me square means using 4 points .
I did a similar move but using the timer because I planned my way point too late ( practically no wind) and loose many minutes!

Your comments are essential on this Forum ! Good sailing

I didn't interpret your comment as criticism Ventura. The opposite actually. Since you liked it, I thought I'd explain in detail what I did.

Now, I'm just a bit more than a little pissed that my boat decided to gybe an hour before I programmed it last night and I was on the rocks when I got up this morning.

Thanks again for your contribution to this Forum !

Subsidary question : is darkboark track reporting exactly the moves you planned for this specific round ! Personnaly found my track in line with my plan

If the basic strategy of plotting yours WP is now clear your will have to jump next time to a high level in optimizing taking also in account the sail changes impact ( not neglictable) during the different phases of the turn .
NB: This turn one was a 3/4 turn ( extremelly rare) and it is the first time I had to do it !
Good luck
