I've been playing around a bit with VR Inshore, which in potential is a great game except for the crappy controls.

What I would like to do at my sailing club is to use mayb VSK5 or some other game to prepare the youth for their first regatta's.

Is there anybody using these racing software for this purpose? What would be the best game? Is is possible to sail omongst eachother in a private race?

Benefit of e-sailing is that you can get hundreds of starts under your belt. Any thoughts are welcome!

VSK - very good game to understand the tactics of sailboat racing and learning the rules.

I am personally acquainted with two World Champions and winners of the many sailing regattas in the real world, who are happy to play from time to time in VSK.
A well-known fact - the pilots of Formula-1 also spend time on the simulator Formula-1.
Football players (and stars :) ) to play FIFA-game.
Of sailing simulator VSK, although an old game but still best in many ways.

I agree, SailX is excellent for learning sailing rules and learn how to make and defend a protest.

I agree with haliz. VSK5 is the best.
there are Sailaway, recently launched, it has many defects, but it could be a great simulator.
is very good for making great navigates, calculating your best route, etc.

A little bit of shameless plug, but hopefully relevant to the discussion.

We're working on virtual reality sailing game for PC consumer VR headsets like HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The feature of VR is that you can interact with the game using your hands, and you look around by turning your head - that creates a spacial awareness and so called embodied learning - in a way you can develop muscle memory. I think it has a great potential for learning and practicing dinghy racing - as it forces you to pay attention to what's is going on around you.

Any interest? We are very keen to work with the community and make the product better based on the feedback.
