I was wondering if you get VSR points for the overall VOR or Clipper ranking, based on your final position...like you would get points for a single leg...

No. The VSR points are earned for each individual event, and when multiple events combine into a collective score, that collective score does not impact VSR. It's just for pride (and possibly a prize for the overall winner).
