Is this race going to be accessable frome here?
Does anyone know where to find polardiagrams for the Trophee Jules Verne?
Which type of boat is used in Virtual Regatta?

Hoping for answers from someone who knows, fair winds!

Hello,

All you need is in the source code of the game. Use Firefox with a plugin like LiveHttpHeaders. Connect to VR and You will find where to load the xml file with "VPP" name inside. It is not graphical but more accurate if you know read it. You will find also the winds charts of the game but this site of sailing simulator get the good ones.

I don't give you the link because you have to understand the mechanism of the game to progress. VR is not real sailing and be a good developer is much more important than to be a good sailor. I say that because i am a sailor and my first choices based on my experience were wrong.

It is my first post and i thank the great work done in this site.

Enjoy.

Polars are the same as last year Jules Verne - http://zezo.org/jv/charts.html

Ok, thankyou zezo.
Anyone knows where to find the polardiagrams for these boats (in .csv .txt or .xls format)?

Hello zezo

Sorry for my poor English

There is, it seems, a problem with TIME.

According the http://zezo.org/jv/charts.html the wind is supposed to change at 7 AM and 7 PM when the correct is 8 AM and 8 PM

Problem with Winter and summer time ?

Thanks

Thank you changing the time made
Post by iconPost by This_Time | 2010-11-16 | 01:54:21
@Kalaboussen : Yes. You can find it in the cache file of firefox in your computer so cache viewer will work.

This is the link for routedurhum polars.

http://routedurhum-multi.virtualregatta.com/ressources/vpp/vpp_1_64.csv?ver=17_6&id_user=1621096

You have to find a link like this. The name will be julesverne.virtualregatta.com, you have to find the good name of the vpp csv file and put your id boat (1621096 is not mine)

@ This_Time : Thanks TU ; I already found them in the cache but you also can find the polars and diagrams at http://www.vrtoutoulz.fr/polars/

Now Zezo would be very useful for the Jules Vernes even if you cannot program the whole race . But it can help by setting a starting point and an hour of departure and a target to reach . Moreover the forecast is more accurate on Zezo .
Unfortunately the Multi Rhum polars dont match the Jules Vernes .

Could you pls confirm if you have the same problem : The update of the wind is at 7 AM and PM, when the correct seems to be 8 H

There was a lot of answers about winds on the VR forum . Unfortunately it is now closed but you can access somme posts in cache on servers .
They changed their winds for the Round UK race and Tour de France . Now it seems to be the same winds as Zezo but Zezo is one hour earlier for the forecast . So the winds you will have at 8 PM will be the +12 Zezo forecast rather than VR forecast .

I have noticed the wind update 20 mn difference on Zezo...
7 h 40 --> zezo
8 h 00 --> VR

Could you correct it zezo ?
Thanks

The longer forecasts are done in steps, larger than 10 minutes - 20, 30 and one hour (for 7 days).

So if you run a 7-day route at 15:30 there will be 30 minutes rounding error, no matter if the simulator displays the change time as 7:40, 8:00 or 8:20

Hello,

It seems the polar - at least the standard one, it is to say Pro Sails unchecked - are different from the VP interface (see also http://www.vrtoutoulz.fr/polars/)

Example With a 7.0 Kt wind and TWA = 62° - zezo suggest Jib = 13.1 Kt - while the VR interface gives 12.8 Kt for Jib and 13.0 for Spi

Thanks

Cvetan,

I see differences in the winds between Zezo and the game, e.g. right now at 9h today, at the point where I am, slightly south west of the Cape Verde Islands.

The difference is in the graphics and in the white boxes, so it seems to be systematic.

Anything you can do?

Thanks a lot.

It was a double error.

I saw that the morning download had failed and restarted it at 10:12h, but did not check if the data is correct.

It seems that the NOAA data was delayed which made the MP weather provider use older data for the morning forecast, so what appeared in the game was
gfs.2011012618/gfs.t18z.master.grbf12.10m.uv.grib2
instead of
gfs.2011012700/gfs.t00z.master.grbf09.10m.uv.grib2

which is known to happen once in a while, so I must be more careful next time. Or just make a script to download and compare the in-game and grib data.

Ooh, thanks, Cvetan.

I was getting nervous and frustrated. I need Zezo. I can't play without it.

Thanks a lot again.

Hey Cvetan,

I recently managed to start the Jules verne 2010... Although the game says the starting line is closed, the game workes rather good... Bizarre...

However, your associated tool in 'charts' isn't working anymore. The website loads considerably slower (if not not at all) then for the other races...
Or am I just too late? Is the game really finished...

Thx, S

Johan

Hi Cvetan,
The Jules Verne Trophy 2011 should be supported by VR in the week, and should match that of last year, but with the time change (currently GMT +1), there is a time lag of one hour between the actual time and zezo :-(
Could you look at it if you have time, please?
Thank you very much Cvetan ;-)
