What a tight finish and narrow slip between the little island. Well done en gefeliciteerd!

Tessa94 is less happy as she ran aground 0.7nm short of the line in the narrow passing ...

to take a risk or not to take a risk, what shall I do ?

a little under an hour to go

Indeed Mike.

Huge Victory For Marc, and as I told him in the moment..that slip between land and rock..it was half the victory!

Very well done!!! Very well sailed. MarcusBelgicus is a really tough guy to hold and knows exactly what is doing.

Congratulations!

Nuno

Ps: to be honest and about being tight..all the race was really tight from beginning till the end...amazing

Congrats Marcus!

Well, the narrow straight revealed that the danger sign in ones projected track is far from to be trusted. It seems that the map is more decisive than that sign. Bounced a bit between the two shores. The amount of messages from the game increases, however, so I got the impression that the game gives you some extra attention to get floating again. Also, your boat becomes transparent when grounded (when it is too late).

Thank you everyone. I have been somewhat lucky and moreover, impossible to get that result without all the tools many of you has developped. So a special thank you to Cvetan for zezo, to Toxxct for his polar graph, and to Mak08/GeGag for the dashboard and chrome extension. I owe you a couple of good belgian beers !

@ Dancingdjmike. I have been 'lucky' to get grounded on the Transat Jacques Vabre. The 'danger' sign is not giving the right place where the ground is, which is very annoying. If you stay on the blue portion of the map, you are safe. If you are on the beach, you need to be cautious if north or south beach. And crossing green will ground you, even if no 'danger' sign appears.

thanks for the (not) grounding tips!

enjoy your beers

by the way, so the dotted line for the track should stay in blue and than you should be safe?

for the almighty VR_server, ours boats are merely dots that move along a line ;)

maybe I've been too cautious passing that cliff with a z-shaped course

The ground is green. The warning sign seems to use the screen rasterizer, so depends on zoom level.

What you set as "quality level" also affects the beaches and the waves and hides some details. The lowest quality level was best a while ago, not so sure now.

Yes, I have seen that if you zoom/unzoom at some stage the bloody danger sign does not appear anymore. A couple of weeks ago I noticed they improved the precision, because you could clearly see the passage where 'La semillante' went during the leg 1 of the VOR, which was not that obvious when we did it. My feeling is that the precision has dropped again, there is no waves anymore. If they could at least remove that 'danger sign' that would be a real plus.

Just forget about the sign. It only gets in the way and obscures the view. Watch the line, see if it goes over the grass and act accordingly. And don't go too close with autohelm on because of all the rounding errors (and evolving forecast, caching, client/server differences and so on)
