Hi Cvetan, is it possible to set the time resolution smaller than 10 minutes to say 2 minutes?
Routing is not so usefull at the moment, other than to find the approximate next TWA to decide for programming or waypoints as well as for sail choice (no autosail cards yet).

Zezo routes two or three buoys, so that's nice. But where is everybody going?

I've added the first few points as constraints, may add subsequent ones as we go. It's impossible to do everything from the start because there are two loops around the same places.

The 10-minute interval is hard-coded very deep in the router. Like set in stone.

It's not very useful for this race anyway. The wind is quite steady, so no playing wind shifts. I'm running a full pack in this race just to be able to use the in-game programming to play the routing in advance.

OK thanks and good luck, Cvetan.
I'm running C0 with quite some credits worth of navigation cards.

How close can you round a buoy with a waypoint?
Is this close enough or can you go inside the circling arrows?

As close as you dare. You can be 1 meter North of the point (center of buoy) as long as you are North of it.

hey, VR is cheat proof ...

Did a little experiment: got buoy 6 cleared (= green) and than returned to take shortcut to 7. After a while 6 got uncleared (circling arrows). So now back en route to rounding 6 again. Lost about 12 nm and learned a valuable lessen.

My old basketball coach always told me: if the ref don't whistle, it's allowed ;)

Hmmm, lost about 22 nm! That was not a great idea :(

But now we know for sure that the current version counts the passes too ;-)

yeah. Otherwise, I would have been in the lead and greatly under fire ...

At mark 11 I ran aground, because the client shows very unreliably where your boat is. Especially when after changing sail, tack or gybe, because then the location goes back and forth. I am curious how others manage to go so near the shores without running aground. Also you can't wee anything as the boat is not transparent (yes, only transparent when it's too late). This behaviour of the client is quite a bummer if I may say so.

HI... I have had the same problem ... I was go directly to mark 11 and I take 30 minutes to go ahead ... lost places from 680 to 780 ... I was without Option ! Just take the winch pro ...

And also getting off the ground again is a bummer, because when you think you are loose and start steering again it turns out that the game uses an older position to do the real crank update: hence: grounded again.

The extension helps in such cases - you better wait for the next positive report before turning back to course.

As added bonus the boat hull is transparent only at the first grounding report. You get one chance to get it right and then it gets opaque again keeping you in the dark.

And when I steer more conservatively, my turns around islands are always too wide.

There was something weird at mark 11. I overdid it earlier trying to get from 2nd to first position, so was no anywhere near the beach at the mark but ran aground too. Then the boat seemingly ungrounded itself.

waypoints are fine for rounding Islands, much more reliable than steering yourself, provided you stay between TWA 40 and 140 roughly. But for the NMS players they are hugely expensive, because for properunattended rounding you need at three waypoints, so 6 WP-cards. Full pack players don't have to think about cards and can easily switch between programming a tack or gybe and using waypoints to bin the programming and loose the cards.

Even with the waypoints its'not easy if you try to go very close to the coast.
I ran aground at mark 4 at 3:48AM... (woke up at seven).
I d like to know how they check the distance between the land and the boat to determine if you can pass.

I also have a waypoint at mark 2, i was using the VR Dashboard (thanks a lot) and i saw this weird route :
with my waypoints i defined to go from 328.9° to 215.3° and just before the mark, my boat went back 1 minute to 148.9° then 1 minute to 328.9° then 1 minute again to 148.9 then 1 minute to 328.9° and decided to go to 215.3°.
I sent a message to VR to have an explanation for this waypoint behavior..no response yet.

basically the game interface sucks. I ran aground at mark 4 under similar circumstances to that noted in some the posts above. And now I just finished (my rank was 415) and my boat moved in to the circle then bounced back out at which point my rank dropped to 424 and that is where I ended on next update. What's frustrating is that it all seems very random and there is no way to know what the correct method of rounding mark, crossing finish, etc because VR is completely opaque about the details. I get that the boat has to be a certain size graphically but there should be a point or cross that marks the path of the boat so you have a better idea of your position when you round mark, hug coast, tack, gybe, etc. end of rant. - Nat

I put 3 waypoints on the mark #4 to be sure not to touch and i double checked before going to bed..and I ran agroun on the f... bottom left.
Where did you touch ?

I happened to be at my desktop when rounding 4 so I adjusted my course several degrees with each iteration to keep the bow hugging the coast and rounding the island. I also ran aground on SW side. My guess is that there is a small sort of hook land mass there but you can't make the boat transparent and can't really know where the boat is relative to shore at a scale less than probably +/- 500 meters, so just a big f... guess which is really frustrating.

I just copy my position from VRdashboard to google maps. Maybe not the best way, don't really know how accurate this method is but it worked for me and i had no problem with grounding since then.

For this race I have used only 4 Waypoint(from the start) => 10 cards !!!
One for the first direction, and 3 for check the better place of each other.
When boat reach the waypoint and I take it and place it on second waypoint, the second on third and use the 2 other to check the better next place, and so one ... until mark 11 ...

Good job ! I did it too in races with less marks..
When did you sleep ? Few hours between each marks/jibe ?
